How Do You Adjust A La-Z-Boy Recliner Mechanism?
A maladjusted La-Z-Boy chair can be easily corrected by adjusting the recliner mechanism. These chairs have either wingnuts or thumb wheels that enable the mechanism to be corrected. Making these adjustments is quick and easy. Use trial-and-error to find a setting that is best for you. Close the leg rest and tilt the recliner forward to locate the parts to adjust the recliner mechanism. The chair will have two wingnuts or thumb wheels underneath. Turn the thumb wheels or wingnuts clockwise by one quarter. Rotate the wheels or nuts on the other side underneath the chair to the same settings. To decrease the recliner tension, turn the wheels or nuts counterclockwise by one quarter. Test the setting of the chair, and modify the mechanism further if it is still not set to satisfactory settings. Thumb wheels and wingnuts can sometimes be tightened by hand, and may require the use of a screwdriver.
