KitchenAid mixers occupy a special place in millions of American kitchens due to their reliability, versatility and simplicity of use. Each KitchenAid stand mixer is manufactured to mix ingredients thoroughly with a set distance between the flat beater mixer attachment and the side of the mixing bowl. The attachment should just clear the bowl's interior without hitting it, but should not leave ingredients against the side while mixing. Sometimes years of use causes the beater to hit the bowl or not come close enough, but owners can easily adjust the beater-to-bowl clearance in a few steps. Turn the mixer off and unplug it from the power source. Tilt the motor head back. Turn the screw at base of the motor head slightly to the left (counterclockwise) to raise the flat beater.
