How Do You Alter The Stitch Tension On A Toyota Sa95 Sewing Machine?

Before you change anything, you should know: 1) bobbin thread tension is rarely adjusted by the user… usually most seam tension adjustments are done on with the upper tension. 2) The thread you think you’re seeing as the top thread may not be the one you’re thinking of — take a look at some samples that I made with red thread in the bobbin, blue on top. The first pair are correctly threaded and tensioned; the rest of the samples are tension problems I induced by slightly misthreading the machine: http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/vi… 3) In a machine that’s in good adjustment, using “dressmaker weight” (standard) sewing thread, the top tension should be at about 4 for most stitches, most fabrics. Normal range is about 3-5. If you have to go outside that range, chances are you’ve got a dirty or misthreaded machine.
