When you install drywall in a new home the seams of each section of the drywall sheets are first covered with drywall tape and then drywall mud. The corner walls where the drywall sections meet will also need to have drywall mud applied but will first need to have a smooth edge. This can be done by installing a metal support strip to the corner before applying the drywall mud. Place a metal support strip on the outside corners of the walls and secure them with screws using the power drill. Drive a screw into the wall every 4 to 6 inches down the length of the support. Verify that all of the screw heads are sitting under the top of the metal support strip. You should see a depression where each screw has been used to secure the metal support strip. Apply drywall mud to one side of the wall and the metal support strip using the drywall knife. Make sure to fill in all of the areas with a depression.
