How Do You Apply Spanish Style Stucco?
Spanish-style stucco adds texture and visual dimension to walls. The plaster finish mimics an aged look and can be painted in any color. The stucco can also be added to ceilings, or the fifth wall, for additional interest in a room. Because the stucco is applied by hand, each person’s work will be slightly different giving a one-of-a-kind look to any living space. Prepare the room to be painted. Clean dirty walls by wiping down the surface with a damp rag or washcloth. Remove all electrical outlets and plug covers using a screwdriver. Place painter’s tape over the outlets and plugs for protection. Apply painter’s tape to all surfaces touching the project area where plaster should be avoided such as adjoining walls, ceiling lines and door frames. Burnish the tape by rubbing it firmly with your finger or plastic putty knife. Place drop cloths or plastic sheeting on the floor. Pull the coverings firm and taut to avoid tripping over wrinkles.
