As a rock and roll music lover and a qualified member of GRITS (Girls Raised in the South), I have been listening to Southern rock and roll music my entire life. Through this article, I hope you will begin to appreciate the music of some of the great Southern rock bands. Southern rock and roll music began in the Deep South around 1969 blending guitar driven ‘rock and roll’ with strong elements of blues, gospel and boogie.
