How Do You Bake A Potato In The Microwave?

0

I hate waiting the time it takes to bake a potato in the oven, not to mention the huge waste of energy considering that I am usually baking for one or two people. Here’s my microwave approach, which I believe gives a very reasonable facsimile to my oven. Wash the potato and prick the skin several times with a fork. Place a paper towel on the tray inside the microwave where the potato will be placed. This absorbs moisture from the potato and keeps the skin from puckering. If the potato is large, microwave it on high for 10 minutes. For small potatoes, cook only 4-5. It’s better to err on the side of too little rather than too much, because you can always cook the potato some more, but you can’t go back if you over cook it. You’ll know if that happens because the potato will look like it has shrunk inside the skin and feel hard in patches with the skin turning all wrinkled. Place the bowl over the potato and shut the door of the microwave, then wait for as long as you just cooked the pot
