The field of massage therapy is one that's growing rapidly. As more and more people look for ways to relieve daily stress, many are turning to massage therapists for help. Anyone who is or wants to become a massage therapist should get certified, as this builds respectability and credibility. Step 1 Graduate from an accredited, state-licensed massage school. The school must also be coded by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massages and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Step 2 Complete at least 500 hours of training and take and pass certain classes such as anatomy, physiology and biology as part of the program in the massage school you attend. Step 3 Submit a completed application, $225 fee, a notarized copy of your certificate or diploma from an accredited massage school and official school transcript to NCBTMB.
