How Do You Become A Mental Health Technician?
Mental health technicians are nurse aides who work in psychiatric hospitals. Their duties are assisting patients with activities of daily living, take pulses,temperature,blood pressure; they also report changes in patient behaviour to psychiatrists. Step 1 As a high school student, take classes in Biology,Anatomy,Psychology,Sociology and English.Then finish high-school. Step 2 Enroll in a training program for mental health technicians. Such programs usually take up to two years, and lead to an associate degree. Study programs include human development, introductory psychiatry, basic nursing, anatomy,phisiology. Step 3 Another path to become a mental health technician is to become a CNA (certified nursing assistant) first, and then become trained on the job as a mental health technician.
