• If your rifle is not already equipped with hardware for mounting a scope, you will need to install scope mounts. Most modern rifles come with screw hole pre-drilled and tapped for scope mount installation. Install mounts and make sure they are secure. (Loose mounts will cause the point of aim to change and may damage the mounts or rifle.) • After your mounts are installed and hardware is tightened, install scope rings on the scope itself and leave loose enough to adjust their position. You will need to be able to rotate the scope and to move it back and forth after mounting on the rifle. • Install scope with rings on your rifle. Tighten the rings to the mounts while leaving the rings loose enough on the scope to allow for adjustments. While holding the rifle to your shoulder in a firing position (be sure rifle is unloaded and do not touch the trigger), look into the scope.
