Building an HO-scale model train layout can be a bit more challenging than working with three-rail tinplate or high-rail track. (HO stands for Half of O, because HO trains are about half the size of their O scale cousins.) A basic understanding of electricity is required, and the models and equipment must be handled more delicately. Decide upon a track plan that you can afford and have room for. Take into account accessibility of switches, ease of operation and other prototypical factors.
