How Do You Build A Porch Column?
Columns on a porch make a house elegant and stately. Building one takes a bit of planning, but it is an attainable goal. It is recommended that you take a trip to the local retail lumber supply and inspect the columns on display. Take note of the width, style and the way they are assembled. Measure the length between the porch and porch covering where the column will be installed. Subtract 4½-inches from the length and mark one of the 1 by 8-inch pieces of lumber accordingly. Place the carpenter’s square on the mark, draw a line and cut the board, using a circular saw. Repeat this process for the other three 1 by 8-inch pieces of lumber.
