• Plan out where it will be. Choose a space with a lot of room. The size of the course should reflect the size of the area. • Choose what objects you want to include in the course. Make sure they are safe, and are appropriate to purpose. A difficult, relatively perilous course would not suit a young child’s birthday party. • Draw out what you want the course to look like. You can visualize it better with an accurate drawing to guide you. Accurate measurements are also helpful, so you know how much of a material you need. The more detailed the plans are, the easier it will be to build. • Start constructing. If your plans were detailed, this step is much easier. Make sure you are clear on what you need, and how to build any obstacles that require it. • Decide how people should traverse various sections. For example, “At the tube, crawl army style like this”.
