Grandfather clocks are complex time pieces that are made up of many moving parts. When you first purchase a grandfather clock, the first step in setting it up is building the inside of the clock the right way so that this complex machine will run smoothly for years to come. When building the inside of a grandfather clock, there are two major components that must be assembled: the pendulum and the weights. Fortunately, there is a step by step process that will allow you to do this on your own no matter what your experience level is. Hang the pendulum by finding the “pendulum guide” on the inside of the side panel or behind the front door of the clock. Grab the pendulum guide, which is a long and narrow metal piece with a pin end. Put the pendulum hook over the pin on the end of the pendulum guide and then lower the pendulum until it is securely sitting on the pendulum guide. Hang the three weights.
