At the age of nineteen I bought my first piece of furniture. It was a distressed antique. Although no one else seemed to appreciate it, to me it was beautiful. Years later my unusual taste became popular. Funny. Over the years I have bought, refinished and sold antiques and never got tired of them. They are timeless and precious to me. They are also exceptionally well made frequently from expensive woods and if you know what you're doing they can be the most economical furniture to be found. Here's a few tips to help you along.
