How Do You Buy Whitewater Rafting Gear?

Whitewater rafting can be as simple or as complicated as you choose to make it. You'll see plenty of paddlers out on the water in shorts and t-shirts. Others prefer to wear wetsuits, helmets, water shoes and gloves. The paddles and rafts can be equally rigged or plain. Before setting out to spend a lot on whitewater rafting gear, take these steps to insure you get what you need. Decide how often you will go rafting. Any good whitewater rafting river is lined with small businesses willing to rent all the gear you need or could want. Take a few trips before investing in your own gear. Renting is also a good way to try out various brands of boats and personal gear. Buy a good, comfortable PFD, or personal flotation device, if you buy nothing else.
