Having a cast removed from you beautiful baby may be very exciting and a long awaited moment, however, for your baby it will be very hard. Infants grow so rapidly and if casted for a long period of time their muscles get very stiff. The day you bring your baby home you may be very excited to bathe them and have them enjoy a warm bath. This time may or may not be pleasant for you and baby. The time spend in the cast has made your child very stiff and kept them in a very specific position for healing. You must give them a gentle bath with a little toy to keep them occupied but if the child is very upset keep it very short. The skin on your baby needs some attention after being in a cast for a few months. Their skin may in areas be raw, bruised, or peeling. Apply some desitin to the irritated area and try to keep the skin dry and allow it to breathe for a few days.
