How Do You Care For Hydrangea Plants?
Popular in the United States since the 1730’s when John Bartram discovered these beautiful plants and brought them to the “New World,” hydrangeas have been a staple in gardens not only in the US, but all over the world. These pretty flowering bushes are native originally to Asia and the Western Hemisphere. Caring for hydrangeas is rewarding work as the benefits speak for themselves in the form of beautiful varying colored blossoms that give life to any garden. Water hydrangeas regularly; the soil should stay constantly moist with adequate drainage. Fertilizer should be rich with nutrients to feed this particular plant. Don’t feed them fertilizer until one or two months after they have been planted and taken root, and make sure that the fertilizer is balanced. Excess nitrogen can inhibit flowering growth.
