How Do You Change A Remington Model 870 Shotgun Barrel?
The Remington Model 870 pump-action shotgun was first introduced in 1950. Made in the United States by Remington Arms Co., this rugged and relatively inexpensive shotgun has become the best-selling shotgun in history. Changing the barrel of the Model 870 is an easy task and the basic steps can also be found in the owner’s manual. Push the safety mechanism—a button located just behind the trigger—so the red marking can not be seen. Unscrew the magazine cap from the end of the magazine. Usually this can be done by hand; however, if you cannot loosen the cap, use a screwdriver to loosen it. Grasp the barrel just in front of the magazine and pull it out of the receiver. Set the barrel aside. Grasp the new barrel just in front of the guide ring and insert the barrel into the receiver as the magazine passes through the guide ring. Screw the magazine cap onto the magazine.
