How Do You Change A Thermostat On A Whirlpool Duet Dryer?
When your Whirlpool Duet dryer doesn’t heat even though you have power to the dryer, you can save a lot of money by testing and repairing the dryer yourself. All you need to do is test the thermal cutoff to see if it has shorted out. If it has, you have to replace both the cutoff and the high-limit thermostat next to it. Follow the steps below to locate, test and change the thermostat on your Whirlpool dryer. Unplug the dryer and remove the two screws that secure the toe panel to the bottom front of the dryer. Pull the panel down and out to remove. Remove the screw from the bottom of the heat shield, which is located on the right side. Remove the shield. Remove the wires from the thermal cutoff and high-limit thermostat. Set your multimeter to the R x 1 scale and touch the leads to the thermal cutoff terminals to test for continuity. If you get an infinite reading, replace the cutoff and the high-limit thermostat. Remove the screws that hold the thermal cutoff and high-limit thermostat
