Unfortunately, the pins in the switch assembly sometimes jam or seize, or the electrical switch component fails. When this happens, you’ll need to change the ignition switch assembly. If your ignition switch uses a transponder key, you’ll need to get the replacement switch from your vehicle’s dealership along with a reprogrammed key. Otherwise, you can buy a new switch from most auto parts stores. Make sure that the tilt steering wheel is in the topmost position. Most vehicles with a tilt steering wheel have the tilt mechanism on the left side of the steering wheel. Pull the lever forward to allow the steering wheel to angle up to the topmost position.
