To check your ignition coil, you need to verify proper resistance across two sets of terminals, and you need to make sure you have no cracks in its housing. Locate the ignition coil. Remove the 3-pin connector by gently squeezing the metal-colored wire, then pulling in the opposite direction of the ignition coil. Remove the coil wire, which is the rubber wire that leads to the center of the distributor cap. Remove the plastic cover that protects the terminals situated between the 3-pin connector and the coil wire connector. Using your ohmmeter or multimeter, check resistance across terminals 1 (the lower terminal) and 15 (the upper terminal), which were revealed when you removed the plastic terminals cover in the previous step.
