Life with a baby often brings messes to every corner of life, and her car seat is no exception. Spilled beverages, bits of food and spit-up can all wreak havoc on a car seat. In order to make the seat last, it’s important to keep it clean. Take the car seat out of your car, and place it on an old blanket in your driveway. Ensure all your baby’s car toys are put away before you begin cleaning it. Suck up food particles and dirt with a cordless vacuum. If possible, use a portable vacuum cleaner’s furniture attachment to clean the small, hard-to-reach areas of the car seat. Clean off the plastic portions of the seat with gentle soap and water. Remove the entire car seat cover, if possible, and run it through your washing machine’s gentle cycle. Hang the cover on an outside line to dry, as it may shrink in the dryer.
