Cleaning out the dirty oil without wrecking your saw is actually not that difficult. Clean your saw so you don’t contaminate the oil system with sawdust and gunk. Drain the old oil out of the reservoir. If you are concerned about gasoline in the oil lines, you can plug up the oil delivery hose. To do this, reach inside the oil reservoir with needle-nose pliers or hooked wire and pull out the oil hose and filter. Plug up the hose with a snug dowel or bolt. Place the hose back inside the oil reservoir. Pour about a quarter cup of gasoline inside the oil reservoir. Put the cover on. Gently rotate the saw for at least two minutes so that the gasoline washes all sides of the oil reservoir. Do not open the oil cover or pressurized gasoline may spray out and injure you.
