If oil is not flowing freely onto a chainsaw blade, the bar and blade can be ruined in no time at all. The most common cause of this problem is a blockage in the oil-delivery system (assuming you have kept the oil reservoir full). Regular cleaning and maintenance of your chainsaw is crucial for keeping it well-tuned and running strong for years to come. Remove the two nuts on the side chainsaw cover. Remove the cover, bar and chain. With a screwdriver, scrape off the worst of the debris and oily gunk to prevent it from contaminating the oil-delivery system. Remove the metal plate that covers the oil-delivery system by sliding it off the two screws that hold the bar in place. Carefully clean out all channels and holes with small, pointed tools.
