Check your filter every 50,000 miles and when it looks dirty, you’ll need to buy a cleaning kit available from most auto parts stores. This process, while easy, takes many hours because the filter must air-dry during the process. So, you should not plan any major trips during the cleaning process. Step 1 Mix the cleaning solution in the kit with water according to your kit’s instructions. Usually, you will need to add just a cap of cleaning solution, but your kit’s instructions may differ.
