How Do You Clean A Plastic Gas Tank With Muriatic Acid?
Gasoline is used as fuel for virtually all motor vehicles. Most gas tanks are made of plastic and need to be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure that the gasoline is being used efficiently. While muriatic acid is typically used for pool cleaning, it is also used to clean debris and build up from plastic gas tanks. Drain your gas tank. Ensure that all of the contents are removed from the tank as well as any of the attachments, such as hoses. Pour some fresh gasoline into the tank. Shake the tank to loosen any debris that may be in your tank. Empty the gasoline into a separate container. Put on work gloves and safety goggles. Pour hot water into the gas tank to half its capacity. Add approximately 1/2 gallon of muriatic acid to the hot water. Close the tank and allow the mixture to sit for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
