How Do You Clean A Tarnished Silver Ring?

0

I have a beautiful hand crafted silver wedding band. Recently, I forgot to remove the ring when entering my hot-tub and the silver reacted to the chlorine and went totally black. I went to the local store and found a professional cleaning substance but found that this cost $8. Luckily for me, my wife was left a book of ‘housewife tales’ when an elderly aunt passed away, so we searched this treasure trove of information and found the following solution. Cover a bowl or plate with aluminum foil – silver side up. Add hot water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon to the bowl and mix until the powder dissolves. Place tarnished silver ring in liquid for at least ten minutes – you can leave in longer, the ring will not be damaged. Voila – you’re ring should now be clean and shiny – you can buff it a little to make it extra shiny.
