• Pick your turtle up gently out of it’s tank, and set it in a different tank or a bowl. Make sure there is water in there, if it’s a water turtle. And have a place to get out of water, like a rock. • Take out any filters, heaters, basking areas, etc. • Dump the water. There are different ways to do it. You can go to the sink, get a hose or vacuum to empty it, or go outside. Just make sure all water is out of the tank. • Fill the tank again with warm water, not even half way. • Add a drop of dish detergent. • Take a sponge and start scrubbing the sides of the tank. Make sure to scrub the bottom, too. If the outside is dirty, clean that too. • Clean the filter. Take out everything inside the filter and rinse it all out. You may want to clean the heater. Clean any decorations, rocks, substrate, etc. next. Then rinse and dry. • Rinse out the tank. Make sure there is no more soap or suds.
