This is the cheapest, quickest, most environmentally green way of cleaning very burnt saucepans and at the same time, get rid of that horrible burnt smell from your kitchen that seems to go right through your home. This has been handed down from grandmother, mother and now daughter, who is now also a grandmother. After constantly forgetting what's cooking on the stove top until I can smell that something burnt, to seeing the inside of the saucepan blackened, I can guarantee this old remedy really does work. If you grow your own lemons, this is a really cheap method of cleaning and deodorizing, after burning food in a saucepan. Fill your burnt saucepan with enough cold water to come up to and cover the sides of the burnt area. Take your lemon, slice and add to the burnt pan along with the salt. Bring the pan with water to the boil, without lid on until burnt residue starts to lift off sides of pan. Take your saucepan off the heat, cool and empty water discarding lemon slices. Any ...  more
