How Do You Clean Coils On A Central Air Conditioner Unit?
Central air conditioning units spread cool air throughout a house or building. You can find the units located outside. For a house, the unit sits outside on the left or right side towards the back and for a building it can be on top of the roof or on the ground on the side of the building. Keeping the coils clean on the unit will help keep down the electricity bill and should be done at least once a year. Turn off the power. Find the breaker to turn off the electricity before cleaning the coils in the central air conditioning unit. Remove panel that covers the air conditioning unit. Use a screwdriver to remove screws on each corner of the panel. Spray coils. Use a spray nozzle attached to a hose and spray the coils with water. Wet down all of the coils. Then spray coil degreaser such as Allied Koil Kleener on the coils. Allow the degreaser to sit for about 30 minutes before continuing. Rinse the coils.
