How Do You Clean Concrete Floors To Install Engineered Flooring?

If you want to install engineered flooring in your home, you may be surprised to know they can be installed right over an existing concrete floor. In addition to other preparations, such as leveling the floor, concrete floors must be thoroughly cleaned before installing engineered flooring. Removing dirt, stains and other debris from the concrete is an important step in ensuring that the engineered flooring properly adheres to the surface. Step 1 Scrape away any imperfections on the floor. Use a putty knife to gently scrape up loose paint or other debris from the floor. Step 2 Sweep the floor thoroughly. Use a broom and dust pan to remove all loose dirt, dust and debris from the floor. A vacuum cleaner with a soft-brush attachment may be used instead of a broom. Step 3 Clean stains from the concrete floor. Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of hot water. Add 1 cup of trisodium phosphate to the water.
