How Do You Clean Drywall Mud From Carpet?
Installing and finishing drywall is a messy job, and blobs of drywall mud can land in your hair and on your carpet no matter how careful you are. Luckily, drywall mud (joint compound) is water-based and easy to clean up, even when it’s dried into rock-hard lumps. Cleaning up wet drywall mud from carpet fibers is easier than cleaning up paint, because there’s no colorant in drywall mud. If it’s dried, start by stomping on it. Wipe or scrape up the excess drywall mud if it’s still wet, and discard it into the trash. Blot the carpet with a light-colored wet rag. Turn it frequently, keeping the carpet damp. Don’t scrub at it because this works the drywall mud deeper into the carpet fibers. Allow the damp carpet to dry, then vacuum it with a dust brush attachment to loosen and pick up residual drywall mud particles.
