How Do You Clean Exterior Stone Siding?
Natural stone siding is a beautiful addition to a home, but the best reason to use stone siding is because of its durability. Because natural stone is part of nature, it is able to withstand far more abuse from the outside elements than manufactured products. Although natural stone siding is relatively low-maintenance, it can still grow dingy over time or develop mold and mildew in damp, shaded areas. Cleaning exterior stone siding requires a little time and elbow grease, but does not call for special tools or hiring a professional. Pour one cup of oxygen bleach into a half-gallon spray bottle. Add five cups of cool water to the bleach and shake the bottle to mix the contents. Spray the bleach cleaner directly onto mold and mildewed areas on the stone and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
