How Do You Clean Masking Tape Residue On Painted Walls?

Try using toothpaste. Wet a clean rag and squirt toothpaste onto it. Scrub with this. Make sure you use the regular white kind of toothpaste. The gel type doesn’t work. Toothpaste removes crayon from walls, so it might work with the residue. I would not use any oil because you might have to re-paint, and any oil or oily cleaners might cause paint to not adhere. If you have to re-paint, sand the area with fine grit sand paper to remove the adhesive. Then prime and re-paint. If you don’t have an exact match for the paint color, I learned a trick from my father: Match the paint the best you can and then paint the entire wall. If the wall is close to the color of the other 3 walls, the eye will see it as an exact match. Good luck.
