How Do You Clean Oriental Persian Rugs?

0

Oriental and Persian rugs have long been famous for the outstanding quality that was used in their construction. These aesthetically appealing rugs are also often quite valuable. Most Oriental and Persian rugs are sturdy and durable, but they do require proper maintenance and care. Oriental and Persian rugs that are not cleaned properly can eventually become damaged. Fortunately, cleaning these rugs is relatively simple. Take your rug outside and shake off (or beat out) any dust and dirt. Vacuum on both the front and back sides of the rug. Place your rug on a flat surface like a patio or deck. Hose off the deck first if it is dirty. Hose off both sides of the rug with cold water. Never use warm water. Warm water can make the colors run. Place a mild rug shampoo or a mild dish detergent that’s been diluted with water on a very small portion of the rug. If the colors of the rug don’t run, shampoo the entire rug with a soft brush. Hose (or rinse) off both sides of the rug with cold water.
