You can clean pet vomit from carpet with a lot of patience and a few simple steps. Scoop up as much as the vomit as you can with paper towels and immediately place in a trash bag. The sooner you can get to the vomit, the better, before it seeps into the carpet fiber and dries. Use a damp rag to pull upward at the carpet fibers, loosening any vomit that did not come clean with your first scooping. Scoop those remnants into the trash. Rinse the rag with cool water.
