How Do You Clean Rust From A Cast Iron Pan?

0

Cast iron can be one of the most difficult metals to clean. Cast iron skillets or pans can become rusty over time after years of use. The rust is very difficult to remove and sometimes it can seem impossible to return the pan to new. In this article you will learn how to get the most difficult rust spots off your cast iron pan. Scrape off the rust with a nylon brush and some hot water. You can add a little bit of salt, this will work as a natural adhesive. Use steel wool for any rust that cannot be removed with the nylon brush. Make the water a little hotter and scrub with the steel wool. Dry the pan. Pour a thin layer of vegetable over the entire skillet. Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place atop foil side down in the oven and let it sit for an house to re-season. Allow enough time for the pan to cool before storing or using it.
