Soap scum wreaks havoc in your shower. The slimy white film is hard to get off most surfaces, especially your plastic shower base. The talc present in soap is the culprit behind soap scum buildup. By selecting a liquid soap or a bar without talc, you can reduce the amount of soap scum in your shower and other areas of your home. Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into a pot. Wear latex gloves to keep your hands from getting wet. Heat the pot of vinegar on a stove on high heat until the vinegar boils. Let the vinegar cool for five minutes. Pour the cooled vinegar directly onto the shower base and let the vinegar sit for five minutes. Scrub the shower base plastic with the scrub brush until the soap scum is gone. Fill a bucket with 1 tbsp. of dishwashing soap and warm water. Agitate the soap mixture with the scrub brush. Pour the soap mixture directly onto the shower base plastic and clean the shower base and walls with a sponge. Rinse the shower base and walls with hot water from the shower.
