How Do You Clean Stained Cedar Siding?
Cleaning stained cedar siding is not particularly complicated, but it is time-consuming. You can do everything yourself or you may elect to have the siding professionally powerwashed before you really lay into tough stains. Either way, be sure that you pick a clear day so you have time to finish your task before nightfall. Mix your cleaning solution. Add a cup of bleach, a gallon of water and a half-cup of dish soap to the bucket. Wear gloves to protect your hands from the bleach. Stir the mixture using the scrub brush. The bleach will be diluted enough not to lighten the siding, but still strong enough to remove stains. Rinse the siding using the garden hose on the highest pressure setting. This should remove loose grime and dirt, but it may leave mold, algae and difficult stains behind. Scrub the siding. Dip the scrub brush in the cleaning mixture. Then scrub the siding until any remaining stains are gone. If you are doing the entire house, you may need a ladder. Rinse as you go. You
