Terrazzo is a durable material made of marble and Portland cement, with marble chips sprinkled onto the surface. It is a beautiful material commonly found in flooring and as the base of a shower. Cleaning terrazzo floors and showers requires little work; however, care must be taken not to damage the surface. If cleaned properly, terrazzo floors and showers will maintain their beauty and last for many years to come. Remove loose dirt and debris from the terrazzo surface. Sweep the floor or shower base with a broom prior to wet cleaning. Sweeping should be done on a regular basis, even if wet cleaning will not be done, because sand and dirt that accumulate on the surface may cause scratches. Fill a bucket with warm water. Add 1 cup of neutral cleaner such as Rejuvenate or Miracle Sealants’ Tile and Stone Cleaner. Other neutral cleaners will work as well, just as long as they are not acidic or alkaline. Dip a microfiber cloth into the bucket of cleaning solution. Wring it out thoroughly.
