Know how to determine a first edition book. A book collector’s definition of a first edition book is the copy that came out from the first ever printing of the book. To help you determine if a book is first edition, look for the ‘print line’ or ‘number line’ on the copyright page. The three systems of print lines are: • 1-10 Numbering System – A sequence of numbers (12345678910) is listed on the copyright page.
