If your printer has only a USB connection and your PC or server has only a parallel connection, you may be tempted to throw that printer away and look for an old style parallel printer, but it is actually quite easy to make that USB printer work with a parallel connection. Purchase a USB to parallel adapter cable. Connect the parallel end of the cable to your server. Connect the USB end of the adapter cable to the USB slot on your printer. Plug the printer in and turn it on. Use the installation CD that came with the printer to install the printer on your server. When the printer has been installed print a test page to make sure you have good communication.
