How Do You Connect Old Wood Plank Floor With New Plank Floor?
Connecting a new plank floor with an old wood plank floor follows a process much like that of replacing damaged planks in an old wood floor. The joined sections must meld seamlessly. By connecting the two surfaces correctly, you can create a continuous surface that appears as though the pieces were installed at the same time. Install the new plank floor until there is a gap between the new planks and the old ones of a single plank or less. Measure the gap to determine whether full planks can be used for the floor connections or whether the planks will have to be cut to fit. Cut full planks if necessary to fit a gap smaller than a full plank. Measure the distance between the two floors and cut the planks according to the measurement. If the gap is the size of a full plank, and you use a plank that has the same connecting process as the old planks, then place the plank as normal, connecting the two final surface rows. Fill the grooves of the old planks at the gap with wood putty and allo
