How Do You Control Bark Beetle In Jeffery Pine Trees?
Bark beetles go by a variety of names, the most common of which is pine beetle. These beetles infest almost every variety of pine and some conifers. Bark beetles bore into the trunks of a tree to create nests, which damages the tree’s structure and makes it susceptible to disease. Eliminating bark beetles from a pine tree, such as the Jeffrey Pine, is usually impossible, but you can control the infestation to decrease the damage to the tree. Examine the Jeffrey Pine tree’s limbs and trunk for signs of bark beetle damage, which is evidenced by multiple small holes, or burrows, as well as by tree sap and sawdust. There may also be tunnels of mud on the outside of the Jeffrey Pine’s trunk. Remove all affected limbs by cutting them off with a hand saw or a chainsaw. Removing affected limbs helps to eliminate some of the beetle population. Remove any Jeffrey Pine trees that have more than 50 percent of their limbs infected by pine beetles. Remove them entirely by cutting them at their bases
