If you are a horse lover, you no doubt would like to bring your equine companion home. Keeping your horse at home saves a fortune on boarding, and allows you to keep an eye on your horse at all hours. Building a horse barn from scratch can be a difficult, time consuming and expensive undertaking, but if you have an unused storage building you may be able to convert that space to a comfortable two-stall horse barn. Make sure your storage shed does not have concrete floors. Standing on concrete floors is very hard on a horse’s legs and joints, and prolonged exposure to concrete flooring can lead to permanent lameness. Remove all items from your storage shed and measure the space you have available. Each stall should be a minimum of 10 feet-by-10 feet, but 12 foot-by-12 foot stalls are preferable if you have the room.
