Multilevel lists provide a way to present more detailed information using a list. Multilevel lists are called “outline numbered lists” in Microsoft Word. These instructions work for Microsoft Word 97, 98 and 2000. Go to the Format menu and select Bullets and Numbering. The Bullets and Numbering window opens. Click the Outline Numbering tab. Select one of the eight list formats available (only one is a multilevel bullet selection). Go to the List Numbering section of the window and select “Restart numbering,” if this is a new list, or “Continue previous list,” if this list is continued from earlier in the document. Click OK.
