Sit at the computer or use pen and paper to create your literary masterpiece of a simple poem. Relax your mind and know you can begin any task with the willingness to do it. Writing a poem is accepting the idea that you can be creative with words. Think of a subject that would be a good topic for poetry. It can be an animal, plant life or a feeling. Once you have your title, you expand from there to let the ideas flow to express something about that subject. Count the syllables in your sentence.
