A boot disk allows your computer to boot up from a source other than its hard drive so that it can reinstall the operating system. While most operating systems were designed to boot from a floppy disk, it is possible to make a bootable CD-ROM if your system doesn’t have a floppy drive. To create a bootable CD-ROM for the Windows ME operating system, you will need to download an ISO image file that contains all the boot information and then burn it to a CD. Follow the link in the Resource section to the Windows ME boot data website. Click the “WinMe_Bootdisk.iso” link and download the file. Insert a rewritable CD into your computer’s CD-RW drive. Open your computer’s CD burning program. Click “File” and then choose “Open.” Navigate to the folder where you saved the Windows ME boot ISO file.
