How Do You Create Dark Art Using Photoshop?

• Start by finding a photo of yourself or someone else. Just about any picture that shows any faces will do. • Think about what you want to do to it. Dark artwork tends to have pale and desaturated skin, blank or plucked eyeballs, and black backgrounds. • Start out by using the liquefy tool (filters>liquefy) to change the shape of the face. That way you can make it bonier and more gaunt-looking. • Use the sponge tool to desaturate areas that have colors too vivid. Do this mainly to hair and skin. This causes the creepy dead look. • Use the dodge tool to make the desired areas pale. • After you’ve done that, use the burn tool to darken the background and create shadows. Use the healing brush to remove unwanted features, such as the pupils of the eyes. If you do that, you can use the pencil tool to add in veins and such.
